Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sari@positivepath.us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

To make an appointment, please click on a link "make an appointment" button on any page on the website, which takes you to a secure web page where you create a login, type in your information, and can choose an appointment that best fits your schedule.  You will be also assigned online forms automatically that you can review and sign online. No need to print out anything!

You can manage appointments online, but please remember that Sari has a 24 hour cancellation policy. If appointments are cancelled in less than that, a cancellation fee applies.

If your child is under the age of 18 years, a parent or a legal guardian has to consent to treatment. The first appointment is for parent(s) only to discuss the needs of your child in depth, make a plan for our sessions, and go over the paperwork and policies for the practice. Sari will meet with your child starting on the second appointment.

Sari is currently an in-network provider for the following insurance panels:

BlueCross BlueShield PPO Multiplan Private Health Care Systems (PHCS) Imagine 360 United Healthcare

UMR

Optum

Optum EAP

Aetna

Aetna EAP

Cigna coming soon!

In-Network, you typically pay for a co-pay or the full allowable amount per insurance and based on your benefits. Your insurance company is the best source to find out the current benefits you have.

 Here are some common fees:

Intake session (the first session)   $200

Individual session $175

Evaluation costs is a flat fee of $1,800

Good Faith Estimate is given prior to testing and counseling using out-of-pocket pay

A Superbill is provided to you when you pay out-of-pocket that you can file with your insurance company for out-of-network benefits. With the Superbill, you can get reimbursed for the out-of-pocket services according to your benefits, which can be as much as 40 to 80% (please check with your insurance).

Unfortunately, Sari  cannot check your benefits before the appointment. Please call your insurance company to find out what your benefits are. She can assist you finding out the information if needed.

People who pay out-of-pocket tend to be more motivated to make good use of their time in counseling. This often results in achieving goals faster along with a deeper and more meaningful counseling experience.

While there are laws in place to protect your information, you may feel more comfortable knowing there is not a third-party involved (e.g. insurance company or employer). The more ways you share you personal information, the higher chance of information breach.

It is often time consuming to complete the necessary processes insurance companies require to pay for services.

Insurance companies do require the counselor to submit a diagnosis for the client to be eligible for services/ reimbursement.

Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, check, cash, major debit cards, and health and flexible savings cards.

Typically insurance covers a portion of the cost out-of-network and it can be as much as 40 to 80% of the private pay. Please check with your insurance provider. You can print out statements from your online account that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits.

Currently, Sari can completes the assessments in 4 to 6 weeks from the initial consultation and has immediate availability. This depends much on the insurance and how fast the claim is processed.

Click on the button "make an an appointment" on any page. This takes you to the Therapy Appointment portal where you will create an account for the client who is being evaluated. After the account is created, Sari will message you with available days and times for the consultation meeting. The consultation meeting is for parents only if the client is a minor.

This meeting is free of charge if you do not wish to continue with the evaluation but will be included in the evaluation fee otherwise.

There are many components in the evaluation process:

  •  Consultation meeting usually via video during which the process of the evaluation is discussed, areas of evaluation focus is decided,  in-person testing is scheduled.
  • Parent and/ or client interview
  • Collecting information from other sources (e.g. teachers, therapists, etc.)
  • Scoring of the forms, interpreting the information, and writing the report
  • Feedback meeting will take place to go over the evaluation results thoroughly after the evaluation is completed.

You will receive a comprehensive evaluation report including the diagnosis and appropriate recommendations when the evaluation is completed that you can share with your doctor, psychiatrists, pediatrician, school, college, work, etc. The length of the evaluation completion depends on availability and the depth and length of the evaluation.
